Is this the face of Walter Joseph Kovacs, AKA Rorschach?
According to this article, the main characters in Watchmen, to be directed by Zack Snyder, the guy who did 300, have been cast. Nite Owl II, Ozymandias, Dr. Manhattan, the Silk Spectre II, the Comedian and Rorschach, who you see here. So far, I think this is good casting, inasmuch as it keeps the bottom line of the movie down, leaving money to be spent on other cool shit, and it gives you no stars upon which to fixate. So far, I am tentatively okay with all of this.
Also this week, it was announced that a Jonah Hex movie is going to get made. I'm not sure who the target audience is for supernatural films about a scarred, ex-Confederate soldier gunslinger, but it primes the fields nicely for the genre-mixing that is sure to be some eventual Preacher-related project, and thrills me to no end, since Hex has always been one of my personal favorite characters.
(deep nasal inhale) Ah yes, it seems that 2008 will indeed be a good time to be a fanboy. Between Hex, Watchmen, Iron Man, Dark Knight and the numerous other potential comics-related projects, it might just be enough to distract us from the ponderous election cycle.
